Lee Harrison stated his championship intentions by taking a commanding lights to flag victory at Melbourne for the Australian Grand Prix. The Williams driver won from second place Jon Clark by over 30 seconds. Laurence Clark rounded off the podium with Eric Stanford suffering from overheating brakes and taking 4th. Lawrence DeSouza's return was on course for a podium until brake failure wrecked his afternoon with him finishing 5th.
